I am always on a mission to find a good deal to save money and Eat Clean. Some of the ways I find to save money are as follows:
1. Buy the items I eat the most from a whole food market like Sams. I normally buy organic spinach, frozen berries, organic milk and other items that I will use up in a week or two. I am single so I have to be sure that I will eat it or freeze it before it goes bad.
2. I always shop the papers to see who has the freshest lowest price on produce. I am in love with Publix but I have taken advantage of other stores when they have a really good deal on strawberries, brown rice, turkey, olive oil, raw nuts etc. Don't be afraid to use coupons. I love Sisters of Savings. Click here to sign up for their coupons.
3. Produce markets are awesome for buying lots of produce on a budget. They are everywhere. In Jacksonville they are normally located in your nearest Flea Market, OakLeaf Green Market, St Johns Farmers Market, Normandy Farmers Market, Mandarins Farmers Market. If you do not live in Jacksonville ask around or look online there is bound to be fresh produce in your area. Just be sure to ask questions about where the produce comes from especially if you will only eat organic items.
4. Angel Food Ministries offers a large about of produce for a reasonable price. I bought the Veggie/Fruit Pack and the Seafood pack. The foods change from month to month so it adds variety at a low price. If you perfer organic or local grown foods then this would not be an option for you. All these items were in the 1-2 tier of the Michi's Ladder.
The veggie/fruit pack includes
1 each Sweet Vine-Ripened Red Seedless Watermelon
1 each Large Sweet Vine-Ripened Cantaloupe
2 each Large Tree-Ripened Mangoes
3 lb. Premium Tree-Ripened Valencia Oranges
1 lb. Premium Vine-Ripened Kiwi Fruit (5-6 Kiwis)
4 ears Premium Super-Sweet Yellow Corn
2 each Premium Fresh Zucchini Squash
2 each Premium Fresh Yellow Squash
2 lb. Premium Sweet Vidalia Onions
1 head Premium Fresh Green Cabbage
1 head Premium California Iceberg Lettuce
3 lb. Premium Idaho Baking Potatoes
1 Bottle Zesty Italian Salad Dressing & Marinade
(16 oz.) AFM June 2009 Fruit and Veggie Recipe Sheet
I also purchased the Seafood pack. I loved the fact that the Salmon was Wild Caught.
2 lb. Alaskan Salmon Fillets (8 x 4 oz. fillets)
2 lb. Breaded Flounder Fillets (5 oz.-8 oz. fillets)
2 lb. IQF Large Shrimp(E-Z Peel & Deveined — 26-31 per lb.)
5. Planning my meals also helps me not to buy more than what I am actually going to consume for that week. There are many items that go rancid after a period of time on the shelf or the fridge. So I try to buy as I need and stock on items that i use most frequently.
I hope that these sugguestions have helped you as they have helped me.

That's important with fresh foods. I'm a widower living alone, so I also have to buy often, in small quantities. I like your blog.
